When Rapture Occurs

Will all of our body parts be ‘raptured’, I am just curious.
For example, if I were to donate a kidney to a non-Christian, would my kidney get raptured with me, or would they get to keep it? And on the flip side, if you were a Christian and you were given a kidney transplant, would that be left when you were raptured (along with your clothes and contact lenses??)

By the way, I am not trying to sell / buy / obtain or donate a kidney – this is just for demonstration purposes.

Now you true Brits in the readership, I’m confident you could sing “Ilkley Moor Baht’at” off by heart, but in case there are people in far flung foreign lands who don’t know this song, I’ll copy it here:

Wheear ‘as ta bin sin ah saw thee,
On Ilkla Moor baht ‘at?!
Wheear ‘as ta bin sin ah saw thee?
Wheear ‘as ta bin sin ah saw thee?
On Ilkla Moor baht ‘at?!
On Ilkla Moor baht ‘at?!
On Ilkla Moor baht ‘at?!

Tha’s been a cooartin’ Mary Jane
On Ilkla Moor baht ‘at?! (etc)

Tha’s bahn t’catch thi deeath o’cowd

Then we shall ha’ to bury thee

Then t’worms ‘ll cum and eat thee oop

Then ducks ‘ll cum and eat oop t’worms

Then we shall go an’ ate oop ducks

Then we shall all ‘ave etten thee

Deep spiritual meaning, I’m sure you’ll agree.

And how about this factoid?:
If you take a deep breath, there is at least one atom in your lungs which will have been in the lungs of every person in history.

And remember that many bodies have been cremated, and huge amounts of Hydrogen, Oxygen and Carbon which used to be them are floating round in our atmosphere.

Now, for me, these deep meaningful considerations mean that if you think the resurrection is just getting all your own atoms back, you’re going to be disappointed.

Anyway, which atoms do you want back? Those which were part of you when you were ten, or twenty? How about if you get back the lot you’ll have at the age of 93? Not keen?

There again – since “we will all have etten thee”, what if you’ve got some atoms which were once part of me? Do I get them back, or would I have to hand them over to whoever I got them from?

We know we’ll be “like Jesus” when we get our Resurrection bodies. Remember that Jesus’ Resurrection body shared some features with his previous body, he still had the holes in his hands and side, for example. He was also recognisable.

So we can conjecture that our new bodies will be modelled on a perfect version of our existing bodies, but not necessarily using the very same atoms. They will be made from the remains in the earth, but not with an exact correspondence between the old and the new.

So if you’re a Kidney Donor, you’ll get your kidney back. (If you still need one – I don’t think we’re told that.)
